From the Principal's Desk
Dear Schenectady High School Families, Students, and Community,
Welcome back to a brand-new school year! We’re excited to see our young leaders return, ready to learn, grow, and make this year one of purpose and pride. A new school year brings fresh opportunities—and together, we’re stepping into it with confidence, enthusiasm, and high expectations.
As we begin, we want to remind everyone about our Cell Phone Policy, in line with New York State Bell-to-Bell Law. To support focused, distraction-free learning, all students will use YONDR pouches to secure their phones during the school day. This approach helps us maintain a safe and productive environment where every student can succeed.
Over the summer, we’ve had the opportunity to connect with many families—both virtually and in person—to listen, share, and collaborate. Thank you for being such active partners in your child’s education. Your engagement makes all the difference.
Let’s also remember: attendance matters. Being present every day builds strong habits, deepens learning, and strengthens community. Missing just 10 days in a school year—whether excused or unexcused—can put a student at risk of falling behind. Chronic absenteeism is a challenge we’re determined to overcome by working together with our families to ensure students are here and ready to succeed.
To stay informed and connected, please use ROOMS, our two-way communication platform. It’s the best way to reach teachers, receive updates, and stay engaged in your student’s journey throughout the year.
We’re proud to begin another year with our Patriots—full of promise, purpose, and possibility. Let’s support one another, aim high, and make every day count.
