From the Principal's Desk
Dear Schenectady High School Families, Students, and Community,
As we settle into October and enjoy the beauty of fall, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible energy and commitment each of you brings to our school community. Together, we have embarked on a journey that emphasizes Learning Together, Growing Stronger, and each day I see this spirit reflected in our classrooms, hallways, and beyond.
This month, we have an important academic opportunity coming up: on October 24th, Schenectady High School will hold a dedicated half-day for students to take the PSAT/SAT. All students attending that day will be required to complete the PSAT/SAT, marking a valuable step in preparing for college and career pathways. Please ensure your young scholar is well-rested and ready to perform their best. For more information, reach out to your child's school counselor, and for a quick video, follow this PSAT/SAT Video.
I encourage all parents and guardians to stay connected with us by utilizing our two main communication tools. Download the Schenectady City Schools app through Apptegy in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store by looking for the Schenectady logo. This app keeps you updated on all events, sports, after-school activities, meetings, and more. Additionally, sign up for the Parent Portal to monitor your child's daily attendance, grades, and latest academic information. These tools are essential in staying informed and actively involved in your young person’s school journey.
Thank you for your continuous support, partnership, and dedication. With each month, I look forward to growing stronger as a community and witnessing the incredible accomplishments our young people achieve.

HCA is in talks with Siena College to lay the groundwork for College in the High School crediting for the Education Pathway! Our Education Pathway students will also have the opportunity to visit Siena College this spring.
HCA would also like to encourage all students to focus on their academics for Quarter 1. The progress reports will come out soon to give families some input as to how their children are doing. Let's work together to help our kids pass their classes for Quarter 1--which ends on November 12. There are plenty of after school tutoring options available!
