Dear Schenectady High School Families, Students, and Community,

As we welcome the first signs of spring, we are officially entering the "home stretch" of our academic year. This is such an exciting time for our school community, particularly for our seniors as they begin their final preparations for graduation.

In addition to the change in seasons, March provides us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Women’s History Month. Throughout the month, we are taking time to honor the vital contributions of women who have shaped our history and our community, inspiring our students to lead with courage and vision.

The Power of Presence: #ProjectBeHere & #ProjectBeOnTime

The third quarter is in full swing, and we have officially kicked off our #ProjectBeOnTime movement.

Being present in school is only half the battle; the other half is being in every classroom on time. When students are punctual, they maximize their learning opportunities, which opens doors for their futures. Research consistently shows that positive school attendance is directly linked to better grades and increased opportunities after graduation.

To make this fun, we’ve launched a new incentive program. Each week, different teachers are given raffle tickets to hand out to students who arrive on time and ready to work. Students won’t know which teacher has the tickets or when they’ll be distributed—so the best strategy is to be on time for every class! Tickets can be used for:

Weekly "Patriot Bucks" for the school store,

Monthly raffle prizes.

Grand Prize Year-End Giveaways, including a brand-new Xbox!

We truly value your partnership in supporting these daily habits. By working together, we can ensure that every student has the opportunity to cross the finish line and reach their goals. Let’s keep this momentum going—attendance truly is the key to success!

As I always say: information is knowledge, and knowledge is power. That power allows our students to make better decisions and choices for their lives. Thank you for your continued partnership.

On Friday, March 27th,  the BME LC and CTE Board is organizing a ceremony to recognize and honor various businesses who have stepped up to help Ms. Peek to bring the Entrepreneurship Classes to the annual business plan competition. The donors are donating to the Schenectady Educational Foundation specifically to fund this experience, so it also demonstrates the strong symbiotic relationship we have between the SCSD and the Educational Foundation.

In addition, the BME LC office will like to continue promoting the school store. The school store is open Tuesday through Thursday during A and B Lunch. The school store is also participating in the "Project Be on Time" campaign. On a weekly basis, we will provide raffle winners with items from the school store. Attend class and be on time!
